Rogue Ginger Photography was founded by Andy Ruck with one goal in mind – to produce high quality photography to both families and companies. Many photographers specialise in only one area of photography, but Andy prefers to work and learn in multiple markets as he believes the skills from one industry are transferable to another.
With over 13 years experience working in Education, Andy started off creating the first Photography course at Trinity School, Belvedere. With the curriculum in place, he successfully helped the only student achieve an A grade for a 2 year course in 1 year – with no assigned classroom time – working through breaks and lunchtimes. From there, he started teaching staff how to run a photography course as well as giving expert advice on equipment and techniques to use in the classroom. The course grew into one of the most popular courses on offer – seeing numbers rise year on year.
Andy’s role then moved into marketing photography for several schools across the borough, providing imagery for websites and promotional materials. This is where he honed his skills as a ‘workplace’ photographer, learning how to capture images of children and staff enjoying education. This love of the photography is where the inspiration for Rogue Ginger came from – understanding that any scenario is photo worthy if shot in the right way.
The experience Andy gained in education ultimately led to him starting up a business that welcomes the challenges of photographing domestic and commercial work. Whether it’s shooting portraits of children with special needs, to capturing sunrise over a building site – Andy throws himself into each job with the same enthusiasm he’s always had.
In his spare time, Andy regularly shoots landscapes and documentary work including Route 66 in America, Coastlines of Britain and National Trust locations. Check out his gallery
